Mechanical Design Engineer
Mechanical Design Engineer with efficient implementing and problem solving skills.
Company Overview:
Xalten Systems is a forward-thinking technology company specializing in developing cutting-edge solutions for various industries and the defense sector. Our focus is on creating groundbreaking products in robotics, embedded systems, sensors, and sensor networks. As a startup, we operate from a first principles approach, tackling complex problems head-on and building efficient, elegant solutions from the ground up.
Role: Mechanical Design Engineer
We are seeking a highly motivated graduate in mechanical engineering to join our dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment and contribute to a wide range of projects. We're not just looking for a designer; we're looking for a problem solver and an efficient implementer who is excited to learn. The ideal candidate will have a "can-do" attitude and be eager to explore new domains to achieve end goals.
Key Responsibilities:
● Design and Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop mechanical systems. This includes creating detailed CAD models and engineering drawings, as well as conducting simulations and feasibility studies to optimize designs.
● Prototyping and Testing: Take ownership of the process from concept to reality. Supervise prototype fabrication, analyze test data, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and provide recommendations for design improvements.
● Documentation: Maintain accurate design records and prepare technical reports and presentations. Ensure compliance with industry standards.
● Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Stay updated on mechanical engineering advancements and contribute innovative solutions during brainstorming sessions. We value a curiosity to learn and a good grasp of engineering fundamentals.
Qualifications:
● Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or a closely related field) from an accredited university.
● Experience: 0-2 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
● Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Autodesk Fusion 360, Inventor, or similar). Knowledge of GD&T, CAE software, manufacturing techniques, and material properties is a strong plus. Familiarity with Dynamics, seals, pressure tolerant designs, cables, and connectors for marine applications, inspection, QC, and
mathematical modeling will also be highly valued.
● Problem-Solving: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
● Communication: Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
Who You Are:
● A Tinkerer at Heart: You have a passion for mechanical design and a hands-on approach. You're not afraid of getting out of your comfort zone and exploring other domains, like some bit of coding or electronics.
● Driven and Adaptable: You are self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment. You thrive on tackling tough challenges.
● A Team Player: You can work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
● Positive Attitude: You bring a positive, "can-do" attitude to every task.
TASK-
Problem Statement:
Design a protective enclosure for a small PCB (60mm × 40mm × 20mm) that could be used in a sensor system.
The enclosure should:
Be designed for 3D printing (FDM) or basic machining.
Allow for assembly/disassembly (with screws or snap-fit).
Provide at least one feature for cable entry/exit.
Consider basic sealing against dust/splash water (e.g., O-ring groove, gasket, or lip overlap).
Submission Requirements:
3D CAD model exported as STEP file.
2D drawing of one critical component with GD&T applied to at least 2 features.
A short note (200–300 words) explaining material selection and manufacturing approach.
How to Apply:
