PCB Layout Engineer

PCB Layout Engineer with experience in design of Multi layer PCBS and HDI boards.

Company Overview:

Xalten Systems is a forward-thinking technology company specializing in developing cutting-edge solutions for various industries and the defense sector. Our focus is on creating groundbreaking products in precision automation and sensor systems. As a startup, we operate from a first principles approach, tackling complex problems head-on and building efficient, elegant solutions from the ground up.

Role: PCB Layout Engineer

We are seeking a hands-on PCB Layout Engineer to join our dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity for a fresher or someone with up to one year of experience to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment and contribute to a wide range of electronic product development. We're looking for someone who is as passionate about solving complex routing puzzles as they are about creating a clean, high-performing design. Your systematic approach and attention to detail will be key to ensuring manufacturability and compliance in our cutting-edge products.

Key Responsibilities:

● Design & Layout: Create multi-layer PCB layouts from schematic designs using industry-standard CAD tools. This includes developing designs from simple 2-layer to complex high-density interconnect (HDI) boards.

● Optimization: Optimize component placement for signal integrity, thermal management, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). Route high-speed digital signals, analog circuits, and power distribution networks with precision.

● Technical Excellence: Perform design rule checks (DRC) and electrical rule checks (ERC) to ensure design integrity. Collaborate with hardware engineers to resolve layout challenges, conduct signal integrity analysis, and implement best practices for high-frequency designs.

● Quality & Compliance: Ensure designs meet IPC standards (IPC-2221, IPC-2222) and other industry specifications. Generate manufacturing files (Gerber files, position files, assembly drawings) and coordinate with manufacturing partners to optimize designs for production yield.

● Support & Troubleshooting: Support prototype testing and resolve layout-related issues, ensuring designs meet fabricators’ capabilities.

Qualifications:

● Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field; or a Diploma in Electronics with relevant experience/training.

● Experience: 1-4 years of experience in PCB design and layout. Freshers with demonstrated capabilities and passion are also encouraged to apply.

● Technical Skills: Proficiency in PCB design software (KiCad preferred; experience with Altium, Eagle, or Cadence is also acceptable). Familiarity with analog and digital circuit design principles is a plus, supporting efficient layout.

● Advanced Knowledge: Knowledge of power integrity & signal integrity concepts, impedance control, and EMI/EMC considerations. Experience with high-speed digital design (e.g., USB, Ethernet) is a plus.

● Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with component packaging, footprint creation, library management, PCB manufacturing processes, DFM (Design for Manufacturability) principles, and IPC standards.

● Preferred (Strong Pluses): Experience with low noise design, routing of mixed signal boards, knowledge of power electronics and thermal management, familiarity with 3D mechanical CAD integration, experience with simulation tools (LT Spice, Tina Ti), and understanding of component sourcing and supply chain considerations.

Who You Are:

● Meticulous & Analytical: You possess an exceptional eye for detail and strong analytical skills, crucial for precise PCB layout, signal integrity, and problem-solving.

● Curious & Hands-on: You are a builder at heart with a passion for electronics. You're not just moving traces; you're creating a functional piece of hardware. You are eager to roll up your sleeves and explore new domains, from sourcing components to supporting prototype assembly.

● Driven & Adaptable: You are self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn in a fast-paced, startup environment. You thrive on tackling complex design challenges.

● Collaborative: You can work effectively both independently and as part of a cross-functional engineering team.

● Positive Attitude: You bring a positive, "can-do" attitude to every design and optimization task.

How to Apply:

If you are a passionate and driven PCB Layout Engineer looking to work on exciting projects in a dynamic and inclusive environment, we encourage you to apply. Join Xalten Systems and be part of our exceptional team dedicated to revolutionizing industries with groundbreaking solutions.
